Unlike Type 6, an easy-to-hit, oblong-shaped utility iron that had two adjustable weight compartments behind a removable Fourteen Golf badge in the cavity, the new Type 7 — currently being offered in 3-, 4- and 5-iron — has a traditional look and toe shape to the standard long iron.
The Tour-only prototype utility iron is made from 1714 steel and features hollow body construction for improved forgiveness, and a heat-treated face for consistency and feel. The iron won't have an adjustable weight port in the cavity.
To give the iron a Sin City feel, Fourteen passed on putting the standard iron number on the sole and opted to go with a five-side die — paint was added to the circles depending on the iron number — in a nod to its Las Vegas debut.
