Chesson Hadley Wins Web.com Tour Finale

Chesson Hadley carded a 1-under, 69 Sunday at the Web.com Tour Championship to claim the championship and his 2014 PGA Tour card.

The Tour rookie and former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket ended the weekend posting a final score of 10-under. Holding off late charges from Brad Fritsch and Scott Gardiner to claim the victory, the trophy, the winner’s check of $180,000 and of course most importantly -- His PGA Tour card.

“This is incredible. I have no idea what happened,” said Hadley after his round. “It was blackout golf out there today and I was just trying not to puke on myself on the way in, even though I tried to.”

It was no picnic for Hadley. Coming in on the back nine, he carded just two birdies to four bogeys. Though in the end, it was good enough for the win and the fruits that come along with it.

Hadley finished at No. 3 on the Web.com Tour's regular season money list. Along with this win, also positioning himself at the No. 3 position in the finals priority ranking list from No. 14. This list is basically the pecking order for next season's PGA Tour season.

“This is something that we’ve been dreaming of since we were kids out there beating balls on the range with our parents,” said Hadley. “To see that come to fruition with a bunch of hard work and a bunch of people supporting us along the way, it’s pretty special.”

The new Web.com Tour finals system which debuted this season, had a lot of players confused on where they stood, what they needed to do and if they or others were earning their PGA Tour cards or not.

The entire thing seemed to be a bit confusing, especially to some players who think that a one weekend great event should be able to earn your PGA Tour card. Many players took to social media to vent their feelings.

Brendon Todd fired the lowest round of the day on Sunday, with a 5-under 65. Assuring him a share of second place with Brad Fritsch, John Peterson and Scott Gardiner.

Though Todd had already secured his PGA Tour card for next season, by finishing 20th on the regular season money list. He was able to improve his priority ranking from 20th to 12th.

With the Web.com Tour new finals completed and 50 PGA Tour cards for the 2014 season handed out. Will there be outcry for change to the new system from players?

We'll have to wait and see what the PGA and Web.com Tours have to say when they field what I'm sure will be many, many insights [complaints] from players and fans alike.
